What's That Sound Over There in the Bushes!?! Sounds and Creatures Expanded In Evolution Through the Ages

Image
Sean and I met in Covington for our weekly meeting. Today I spent the vast majority of the meeting organizing the creature model status document for creature incorporation into our game world. Now our list has been broken down into a master creature list. This master creature list consisted of all creatures eventually needing to be incorporated into the game (depicted by the below two continuous spreadsheet figures) Full Creature List:  All Creatures to Be Incorporated into Gameplay -- Part 1-- Full Creature List:  All Creatures to Be Incorporated into Gameplay -- Part 2--   Column Key: Model Purchase Status Unknown  = Have yet to update the list *(no creatures in column at this time)  Model Purchase Need  = Have yet to be purchased to work on  Model Needs Work  = Model has been purchased but is not up to our standards for incorporation into the game  Texture Needs Purchasing  = Mode...

Atoms. Atoms. Everywhere. What Can You Make Out of These Circles?

Image
Today we are working to expand the fields of the Atomic World within Evolution Through the Ages. We have previously had the ability to create additional atoms by using the process of nuclear fusion. Previously we have only had enough atoms which were primarily required to create the phospholipid; ultimately creating the first phospholipid bilayer to make the original cell; last universal common ancestor (LUCA).    We are now in the process of incorporating all of the remaining atoms from the periodic table of elements into the game world. This will cause the atomic world to become much more challenging when regarding the process of nuclear fusion and molecule formation. This additional challenge will be due to the increased possible combinations of potential atom creation and atom bonding.    We additionally are working to create a more scientifically accurate representation of these atoms within the game; our ultimate goal with the game. We ...

Let's Make the Bacteria Explode Upon Clicking Self-Destruct ("APOPTOSIS") Button

Good afternoon, and welcome to another blog installation of weekly update discussions.   In these articles, we at   Evolution Through the Ages   like to discuss the major advancements, both company and game features, that Sean and I have been working on during the previous week's timeframe.        Each Sunday morning, Sean and I get together to discuss tasks for the upcoming week. Additionally during these meetings, we sit down and tweak small components of the game in order to make a more biologically accurate or user-friendly gameplay interface. This week, Sean and I began by integrating a new biological feature into our game; the apoptosis feature.   Apoptosis Update      Apoptosis, or programmed-cellular death, is a mechanistic tool that cellular organisms are able to utilize.  Utilizing this feature, users are able to induce cellular "self-destruct"; where selected organisms will implode...

So Let’s Talk About Death Shall We…

Image
Sean and I met up today for our weekly meeting at the local Starbucks.   The topic of our meeting today was death and how this concept would continue to effect organisms within the game world we have created, Evolution Through the Ages .        We discussed how to incorporate the mass extinction events from the geologic time scales from planet Earth’s extensive 4.6 billion year old history.   Especially pertaining the concepts of extinction events triggered by over-competition, CO 2 / O 2 concentrations, and asteroid impacts.      Organisms will soon be able to effectively eliminate a global population of organisms within our game world.   This will occur through a process known as organismal over-competition for limited resources.   Due to a scarcity of resources within the game world, as is the case in the real world, organisms will inevitably result in competition between two di...
