What's That Sound Over There in the Bushes!?! Sounds and Creatures Expanded In Evolution Through the Ages

Sean and I met in Covington for our weekly meeting. Today I spent the vast majority of the meeting organizing the creature model status document for creature incorporation into our game world. Now our list has been broken down into a master creature list. This master creature list consisted of all creatures eventually needing to be incorporated into the game (depicted by the below two continuous spreadsheet figures)

Full Creature List:  All Creatures to Be Incorporated into Gameplay -- Part 1--
Full Creature List:  All Creatures to Be Incorporated into Gameplay -- Part 2--

Column Key:

  • Model Purchase Status Unknown = Have yet to update the list *(no creatures in column at this time)
  • Model Purchase Need = Have yet to be purchased to work on
  • Model Needs Work = Model has been purchased but is not up to our standards for incorporation into the game
  • Texture Needs Purchasing = Model is ready for implementation into the game; however, creature textures are not available
  • Textures Need Work = Model is ready for implementation into the game; however, creature textures are available but not up to our standards for incorporation into the game
  • Rigging Needed = Creature model and textures are up to standard. Creature internal skeleton system is still being worked on (used to create animations for creatures)
  •  Animations Need Install = Creature model, textures, and rigging are up to standard. We are currently working to create the animations for the creature in the game world
  •  Animations Need Cleanup = Creature model, textures, and rigging are up to standard. Animations are present but not realistic enough for our standards to complete the creature. We are currently working to perfect the animations on this creature
  • Creature Completed = Creature model, textures, rigging, and animations are up to standard. Creature merely needs to be added into the game world for users to interact with
  • Implemented = Creature has successfully been completed and implemented into the game world
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This master list was then used to construct a sub-list consisting of creature models already implemented into the game (micro or macro worlds).

Creatures Integrated into ETA game as of 4.7.19

Terminology Key:
  • Micro  =     Small Size Scale Creatures     (i.e. Bacteria's and Cell's World)
  • Macro =     Large Size Scale Creatures     (i.e. Crocodile's and Velociraptor's World)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then also used the master creature list to create a secondary list consisting of the creature list, as well as the stages of development each model is idled at along the progress towards implementation.

Note:All creatures in this list have models that are purchased or designed previously. These creatures are currently being finished to be implemented into the game currently.

While I worked on the creature lists, Sean downloaded “free” music files from the Unity store and uploaded them to our google drive account. Later in the day, I went through the sound files and selected individual soundtracks that sounded like they meshed well with our user gameplay interfaces. I subdivided the selected soundtracks into sound-file folders for: Atomic World, Micro World, and Macro World.

Now I am currently in the process of designing unique triggering events that will aid in the game programming's ability to distinguish between specific points in the gameplay;  triggering the playing of a selected sound file.  We hope that you will/have thoroughly enjoy these new additions to our game that we are hard at work on.

Until next time, remember to....

                                                                Play. Evolve. Conquer!
